How do premade cover purchases work?
Simply select a premade cover design from our Shop page, add it to your cart. Upon checkout, you will receive a form to fill out including any changes you need made to the text. If you need changes to the design, please add “Premade cover customization” to your cart from the Add-Ons section of the shop! Turnaround time for a basic premade cover is 1-3 business days. Turnaround time for a cover design customization may be up to one week.
How do custom cover designs work?
Navigate to our Customs page, and here you will see an appointment scheduler. With a deposit of $50, you are able to select a day for a brainstorming session with your designer. Let us know your needs, and we will take notes, provide input, and in one week, send you three cover options to choose from. At that point, we set up a second meeting, where you will pay the remaining $200 for your design, and we will make any additional changes needed to your chosen cover.
What will I receive with my final cover design?
Final files include a front cover image (for ebook), sized for your preferred publishing platform, one promotional image (sized for Instagram and Facebook/Twitter), and one 3D promotional mockup.
I have posted my book launch/cover reveal social media image, and it’s been awhile. I’d like to make another, different social media post to promote my book. Is this something I can request?
We know that promoting your book can take a lot of work on social media, so any additional requests for these images can be made by contacting us directly at starcitycozies@gmail.com. If you have purchased your cover design (premade or custom) from us, there is no additional fee for extra social media images!
I need my manuscript formatted for Kindle/ebook. How does this work?
We take your manuscript, in its original text document form, and convert it to a reflowable epub document, uploadable on whichever ereader platform you prefer. A basic format includes default fonts only, with no customizations or images added (except, of course, the cover). This service is $200, and includes a live preview and troubleshooting before the final document is uploaded. A basic text format will be completed in one week. If you would like to have custom fonts (limited to what ereaders provide for compatibility), and added images, this service is available for a cost of $300. A custom text format for ebook will take 2 weeks.
I would like my manuscript formatted for paperback. How does this work?
A paperback format costs $350 and will take two weeks. We take your manuscript, in its original text document form, and convert it to a print-ready paperback interior, uploadable on whichever publishing/printing platform you prefer. The text will be formatted in a style that matches or pairs with the cover design. Any number of provided illustrations may be added at no additional cost. (To see information on custom illustrations, please visit our Add-Ons section of the Shop.) You may also choose to add in any back-of-book advertising, if wanted. A proof will be sent to you for approval, with up to 3 major revisions included.
What is this file that downloaded with my purchase?
All purchases from Star City Cozies’ Shop page come with a Design Contract download. Please initial and sign this fillable form, and send the completed document to starcitycozies@gmail.com. We are unable to send you your files until you send us this completed form. If, for any reason, you disagree with statements in our Design Contract, and would like to cancel your request and receive a refund, just let us know. Refunds for work not received by the client are permissible.
I would like to request a change, but am past my 3 provided rounds of edits. What do I do?
For any product that we offer, we provide 3 rounds of edits for free. In any case (premade cover, custom cover, ebook format, paperbook format, audiobook image, back of book ad, etc.), choose “Extra rounds of edits” from the Add-Ons section of our Shop.
Rights and legal terms

Artist/Interior Design Credit
By purchasing one of our premade or custom covers, the client agrees to credit Star City Cozies as the cover artist on the copyright page of their print book and/or ebook. Every printable cover will feature a visible, small, and tasteful credit on the back cover, including our company logo, and the text, “Cover design by Star City Cozies.” If we have formatted the interior text, the client also agrees to include the proper attribution (including a working link for ebook formats) on their copyright page.

Copyright Statement
I, Kelsey Hoover, the owner of Star City Cozies, retain the copyright of all my “for sale” and sold premades, as well as my custom cover designs. In agreement with stock and font licensing rules, I license the use of my copyrighted designs to a single client. To protect the quality and integrity of my copyrighted artwork, I require that all typography work on sold premades or custom covers be created only by me. Because each of my designs is licensed only for a single client’s use, it is a copyright violation to re-sell my cover designs without my express written permission. In addition, mockups that are rejected during the custom cover process are my copyrighted artwork and, therefore, cannot be used by another artist to build upon. I also retain the right to alter and/or improve a rejected or abandoned (no full payment) concept and offer it for sale at a later date. The client may not use any designs created by Star City Cozies, in whole, part, or as part of a derivative work, to create or sell non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of any kind.
Ownership Rights
Upon receipt of full payment, Star City Cozies grants the client exclusive license to use the final cover design artwork for their ebook and/or print book and associated promotional materials. Alterations of proof and/or final designs are not permitted under the terms of this agreement. Client will contact Star City Cozies for any alterations needed. Please note, there may be an additional fee associated with alterations. The client agrees not to alter the cover art after it has been delivered except to change size for printing or digital display.
Files Delivered
Cover artwork will be delivered as jpeg and, for printable covers, in pdf format. Ebook text formats will be delievered as epub files (or other ebook format as required by the client). Paperback text formats will be delivered as a pdf files. Source files will not be provided.
Image Licensing
Star City Cozies may use custom illustrations, photography, and/or images bought on various stock image sites. Images licensed by us are permitted up to a 500,000 book print run. It is the client’s responsibility to inform us of the need of extending such license. The client acknowledges that the standard license under which the images are bought allows the client to create whatever digital promotional items they need with the artwork that we have provided.
The client is allowed to create promotional items as business cards, information leaflets, and flyers. However, the creation of an item which has a purpose in itself (like bookmarks, pens, T-Shirts, etc.), is prohibited and unless an extended license has been purchased.
Provided images
In the case that the client asks us to work on one or more images that they provide, they acknowledge that they must have acquired the proper license to those images. Images in the public domain are not accepted. In the case that a dispute should arise involving material provided by the client, the client agrees to assume full legal and financial responsibility and to indemnify, hold harmless and defend Kelsey Hoover of Star City Cozies from any and all copyright and permission infringement action resulting from materials the client provides.
Liability
Kelsey Hoover and Star City Cozies are not liable for incidental, indirect, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages of any kind, including loss of revenues or profits, loss of business or reputation, or loss of data, in any way related to their services.
Confidentiality
All provided information and materials are considered confidential and only for use by Star City Cozies. The client’s information and/or project materials will not be given out or shared with any third party, unless they request otherwise.
Promotions
The client agrees to the use of their cover and/or interior text design(s) in Star City Cozies' promotional materials. Star City Cozies will not display more than a chapter’s worth of interior text in these materials.
Proofing all final materials
It’s the client’s responsibility to proofread all text provided for any product to be designed.
The client is responsible for proofing the book cover design and/or book interior design provided by Star City Cozies. It is strongly suggested that the client request a proof from the printer before ordering any materials using the book cover and/or interior design. At no time will Star City Cozies be held financially or legally responsible for any problems, costs, fees or expenses incurred by client as a result of using the book cover or interior text design.
Refund Policy
Due to the nature of digital designs, no refunds will be given for work that has already been done.
